My pain doctor prescribed Fentora for neuropathic pain. I'm taking 400mcg once a day. It works great. The instructions say do not cut the med. I sometimes find I could use a lower dose and cut the med in half. This seems to work ok but I wonder what the risks (if any) are?
Thanks, Jerry

all I know about it that it can be a dangerous drug.
The most important information you should know about FENTORA is:
FENTORA can cause life-threatening breathing problems which can lead to death:
If you are not regularly using other opioid pain medicines around-the-clock for your constant cancer pain and your body is not used to these medicines. This means that you are not opioid tolerant
If you do not use it exactly as prescribed by your doctor
Your doctor will prescribe a starting dose of FENTORA that is different than other fentanyl containing medicines you may have been taking. Do not substitute FENTORA for other fentanyl medicines, including Actiq®, without talking with your doctor.

I would advise you not to cut the fentora tablets in half. One reason is that they can easily break into pieces. It's not a strong as aregular pill because of the method of administration. I also say a study saying that if you were to take 1 400mcg fentora or 2 200mcg fentora, the dosages and administration are equal. Hope this helps.
